The Music in the Hunchback Sequel is bad but it’s not the worse aspect. The worse aspect is the animation and the art style. Everything is lackluster from the colors, to characters’ movements and looks. Even the in-between animation, which typically isn’t supposed to be anything spectacular, makes the characters either look deformed or derpy (pardon the meme).  It all seems like there was no joy in this project on the part of the animators, like it was something they did because they had.

The movie was animated by Walt Disney Animation (Japan). And as it happen that Disney Japan expertise lies in there action scenes, which is an odd pairing seeing how the climax of this movie is a woman picking up a child. No battles, no fights. No wonder the animators appear not to interested in this project, they probably wanted to get it over and done with.

I think the animation is one of the biggest problems with this movie along with many of the other Direct to release Disney movies. If a movie is terrible you can forgive it if it’s pretty, but if it lacks any redeemable qualities how can people like it? Actually there is a question, Does the Sequel have any redeemable qualities that makes it enjoyable? People may argue Quasimodo and Madeline finding love, but is the love interesting and good?

Next Time -Let’s answer that question. L’histoire d’amour de Quasimodo et de Madeline

This is joke, Yoko and Ono are common Japanese names…just thought it was a little funny that a Yoko Ono worked on the movie.

5 Thoughts on “Animation of Disney’s sequel to the Hunchback of Notre Dame

  1. Right. There is a place for Planes’ and that’s with children. There is no resaon why DisneyToons can’t make a children’s movie based off of Cars characters. Pixar, rightfully, is staying far away from this project. But I 100% support Disney’s decision to make a children’s movie out of Planes. Children love the characters, so why not give them more of what they love? And if they can make more money off of it, then that means more money for quality films like Pixar’s films and Tangled by Disney. Remember, it’s a business and they need to run it like one. Planes isn’t being made for YOU, it’s being made for children. Pixar films are for EVERYONE and don’t skew to younger kids, for the most part. I think people are going to be blown away by Cars 2 and a lot of doubters are going to have their foot in their mouth once it’s released good reviews are already pouring in.

  2. A risky wedding of wholesome classic animation, to adult and often dark-themed material.

    • woooo! finally got there ey rob?these are brakthteaing,I didn’t pay much attention to the interior shots in notre dame, the exteriors of the town/city always grabbed me.but these are just as awsome.more!! hehe

  3. Ola! Jess,
Speaking of which, Disney has had a run of recent successes from its latest films. As the old formula is returned with Disney princesses, Broadway style songs and fairy tales, there are rumours of a Disney Revival, the likes of which we haven’t seen since the Disney Renaissance in the later 80s and 90s. It’s not surprising therefore, that a lot is riding on their upcoming animation; The King of Elves.
    Catch you again soon!

    • TS3 needed no fiixng. He trusted Lee with it 4 years before it was even released. Cars 2, on the other hand, was a trainwreck and if John Lasseter needed to stop focusing on being Chief Creative Officer of not only Pixar and Disney’s Animation Departments, but also ALL if Disney’s theme parks (Tokyo, Paris, DLand, WDW, etc.) then you know it needed to be majorly fixed and honestly, JL was probably the best person to do this. Pete is on a new project and was finishing UP last year, Lee was doing TS3, Andrew is doing John Carter of Mars and Brad was doing Mission Impossible 4. In order to save Pixar’s reputation and make Cars 2 the best it could be, John had no choice but to come back and be the director. I’m sure he didn’t want to, and I’m sure Brad Lewis is a little embarrassed when the CCO has to come clean up your mess, but it was for the best for Pixar I’m telling ya, Cars 2 is going to be better than most people think!
