Since we’re going to be embarking on reviewing the Lon Chaney version of Hunchback of Notre Dame I thought it would be a good time to ask an important question who is  more Handsome, Chaney as Quasimodo or Chaney as the Phantom of the Opera? Mmmm this is a very tough question as beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but then again so is ugliness.

To answer this very tricky question I asked a crack team of young, impressionable and insecure, teenage girls  who all said that they were both ugly but if they had to pick they all chose the Phantom because even though he’s ugly, he is at least a musician and they all really like musician plus he is a better dresser. Though even when I pointed out that Quasimodo rang bells with making him a musician of sorts the girls still said the Phantom. I guess they like bad boys, typical huh?

Sorry Quasimodo, the girls prefer the deform, obsessed, musically-inclined psychopathic genius to your deformed and slightly angry yet loyal nature.

But what do you think? Who is do think is more handsome the Hunchback of Notre Dame or The Phantom of the Opera? (Remember keep it to Lon Chaney)

3 Thoughts on “Who is Cuter, Phantom or Quasimodo? Chaney addition

    Oh no, I’m participating again.

Physically more attractive, the Phantom. Personality, Quasimodo. But who would I rather run off with? The Phantom.

Now why is this? The Phantom’s just more interesting. Architect, genius, musician (yeah, Quasi’s got his bells, but Erik composes), torture technician–I’m sure that’s got plenty to talk about. Maybe it’s got a some sort of subconscious appeal like, “yeah, I want someone to go crazy over me, yeah that sounds fun,” I don’t know and I don’t care to, but this also brings up the question–if this is true, why aren’t I (and most other people, I do believe) attracted to Frollo when Erik gets hordes of “phangirls”? What’s there difference? Where’s the divide between the two? I don’t know, just thinking on the odd mechanics of attraction. :/

Frollo does have his fair share of fangirls but not in the numbers that the Phantom has. Those are interesting questions. If I had to make a guess, I think maybe it’s because the Phantom didn’t try to destroy the object of his desire (It hard to say if he would have blown up the Opera) and he let Christine go in the end which makes him romantic and tragic.

And Thank you for participating, I appreciate it ^_^

To me the Phantom looks like he hasn’t slept in ages…just look at those dark circles around his eyes. Meaning, he’s probably an insomniac and personally I like my sleep and don’t need some guy keeping me awake. Second, the Phantom’s hair line is receding. This means he’s gonna spend all his money on hair products which “promote growth” and soon go through a mid life crisis. I’m 26 and don’t need to support some guy who decides he needs a flashy sports car, a toupee and to cheat on the girl he already has.
Quasimodo has deep soulful eyes and is younger, has a full head of hair. So, yes I think Quasimodo is more adorable.
