Looking up Gypsy costumes on Amazon yields a lot different costume results. You get Belly-dancing, bar wenches, pirates, fortune tellers, stuff label as Gypsy and even a costume of the 300 Queen. Basically a standard Halloween Gypsy costume has a few core elements; bright colors, hip scarfs, corset, texture/patterns and gold elements. More often than not these costumes are in the “sexy” variety of costumes. Of Course, most pre-made Halloween costumes for women are “sexy.”

These Costumes are some of the Gypsy/Fortune Teller variety available on Amazon.

Disney color scheme, seems to be very inspired by the Disney costume to-boot.

Lots of texture and pattens that go quite nice together. Could easily be a pirate costume as well.

The boots kill me in this picture, it’s like a costume The Nanny would have wore.

Elite Sexy Good Fortune Teller Gypsy Costume

Las Vegas version of a Gypsy/FortuneTeller. It’s silly  with the lace, confetti-dot, satin and faux velvet but I don’t hate it.

Leg Avenue Women’s 3 Piece Crystal Ball Gypsy Peasant Dress With Puff Sleeves…

The Ruffle tier skirt is a reminds me a skating costume but considering there have been a few notable Notre Dame de Paris skating performances that may not be too out-of-the-box

Very quintessential Halloween Gypsy Costume even though it goes with the stereotypical vest and not the corset.

Overly Sexy with Disney color scheme, I find the “corset” a little silly.

The way the skirt hangs this costume reminds me of a Gothic Lolita costume.

Hey, I’d like your opinion, My father is indian, my mother isn’t, though I inherited his chocolate brown eyes and olive skin (My mother hair is auburn, her skin is fair and her eyes hazel) I don’t have his raven black hair color, mine is a cooperish brown, it looks like it’s brown, but in sunlight it has a few cooper shades. Apart from it, there are a few people who say that I resemble a gypsy (perhaps because my indian blood), I live in USA and my school is going to perform 2 renditions of Victor Hugo’s classics, one is Les Miserables, and the other Notre Dame de Paris, they’re holding auditons still (they are not adapting from musical or disney version, it’s from the book), do you think, even with cooperish brown hair, I should try for the role of Esmeralda? (I’ve been doing Indian dance classes for the last two years), or do you thing my hair color will be an issue? Shall I dye it black? Thanks

Wow that’s great that your school is putting on productions of Le Mis and Hunchback.

I don’t it’s necessary to dye your hair for the audition. You could tell them that you would be willing to dye it for the role but there are less permanent ways to color your hair like powders. I would say that with your coloring and background in dance you have an advantage for the role, so I don’t think you hair will be an issue for Esmeralda.

Good Luck, let me know if you get the part

I can never find a store bought Esmeralda costume I like. Last year I found a skirt and corset top through HolyClothing.com and they aren’t so costume-y that I can’t use them in my everyday wear. I may just get a new color of corset or skirt this year…not sure though, need to check the finances.
To me the costumes for adults are either too gaudy or too slutty.
