We’re kind of at the bottom of the barrel here my friends. We have gone through all the major and not so major visual versions of Hunchback BUT there are still more versions that I know of and probably more versions that I don’t know about. So much for being an expert on Hunchback of Notre Dame, not I ever claimed to be one.

So of  the versions I know about that are left there is the Classic and highly regarded Dingo version, I’m kidding  it’s utter crap, the La Esmeralda Opera, The Mondo TV version, a graphic novel by Tim A. Conrad, The Dennis Deyoung Musical, two  radio plays (though I’m not sure if I could find the one from 1989 but I have heard the one from 2008), and an animated cartoon series that just confuses me.

There are more but these versions are on my radar and also what I can probably access, I will  never be able review the Theda Bara version. So Sad.

Not sure which one I will review or when, I have so much burn out. If you have an opinion; leave a comment below or on Twitter or theHunchBlog’s Facebook page. And if you don’t have an opinion, that’s cool too.

Well, you could review the illustration of Benjamin Lacombe. That would be different and nice!

For an hypotetical casting I’d suggest Emeraude Toubia, she is of lebanese and latin descent, so she really have this beautiful, unique look. The only downside is that she quite sexualized, so she’d probably make the sexy Esmeralda, but with a good director she could probably play a less sexified role, one with subtle sexiness, like the one with Salma.

    This pictures is so Esmeralda

Her name Emeraude (a variation of Esmeralda) is a bonus.

Emeraude Toubia does look the part. Thank you for the suggestion, it’s been a while since I have done a casting post.

Reviewing the Lacombe’s illustration for Hunchback would be a nice change of pace. Thank you for the suggestion.

Maybe you can review some of the radio versions of Hunchback. There is one from the 30s and a recent one from 2008, and that one is just amazing. Also, I would like to recommend a hypothetical casting for Esmeralda. Joana Ribeiro, she is a Portuguese and if you read about her character in “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote” (which also stars Adam Driver) she plays a young woman who was the personification of innocence, but then became a life-hardened woman. Plus, this picture just screams Esmeralda to me. http://mummiesandlightsabers.tumblr.com/image/173328352044

(Also if you haven’t checked out the trailer, please do so! I think you would be interested.)

I really want to recomend Roland Petit ballet version. It may sound strange but it feels like one of the best adaptations to me
