Now that Once Upon a Time is done I thought it would be a good time to do another round of random picks from Netflix but this time with Fantasy movies. Since Fantasy is like Fairy Tales.

Every Thursday in June there will be a review of some random Fantasy movie off Netflix.

Just like last time the selection is through https://reelgood.com/roulette/netflix.  There will be no re-rolls, you have my word.

A few guidelines;

  • If I get a show I will only watch/review the first episode.
  • I reserve the right to stop watching the movie/show at least the 30 minute mark. It does take me a lot to quit a movie but I don’t want to waste my worthless time either.
  • If I have seen the movie before I will still review it but in the event that I get a movie/show I have already reviewed before I reserve the right to re-roll but I shall make a note in the post of that event.  The odds of very low of though so I don’t imagine that will happen.

First one is on June 7th!

We’re kind of at the bottom of the barrel here my friends. We have gone through all the major and not so major visual versions of Hunchback BUT there are still more versions that I know of and probably more versions that I don’t know about. So much for being an expert on Hunchback of Notre Dame, not I ever claimed to be one.

So of  the versions I know about that are left there is the Classic and highly regarded Dingo version, I’m kidding  it’s utter crap, the La Esmeralda Opera, The Mondo TV version, a graphic novel by Tim A. Conrad, The Dennis Deyoung Musical, two  radio plays (though I’m not sure if I could find the one from 1989 but I have heard the one from 2008), and an animated cartoon series that just confuses me.

There are more but these versions are on my radar and also what I can probably access, I will  never be able review the Theda Bara version. So Sad.

Not sure which one I will review or when, I have so much burn out. If you have an opinion; leave a comment below or on Twitter or theHunchBlog’s Facebook page. And if you don’t have an opinion, that’s cool too.

Sorry guys, due my own procrastination and being sick there will be no new post on Quasimodo  d’el Paris this week but I won’t leave you with nothing.

I was seeing if there was any new info on the Max Ryan version of Hunchback  when I saw on IMDB that the only cast for this movie is now Max Ryan as The Hunchback and Steven Berkoff as Advisor.

Does this mean that the ‘pivotal’ roles of the Giant and the Figment have been cut? Maybe, movies do get rewritten even as they are being made (though this Hunchback version is still in pre-production). Fun Fact Gone with the Wind was getting rewrite like everyday of filming and went through three directors.

Another possibility is that the cast they has listed are no longer attached to the project so the roles just aren’t listed and there will be The Giant and The Figment. I mean, Esmeralda and Frollo were never listed but at one point prior to the movie getting a listing on IMDB  there actors in negotiations for the parts, Monica Cruz and John Rhys-Davies.  I think this is the case because I for one and very curious about the Giant and the figment  and at the same time scared.

Due to personal reasons and being quite sick I’m going to have postpone the review for this week. Usually I’m better at scheduling posts if I know I’m going to be busy but I didn’t count on getting sick, it happens. Hopefully next week I will make up for this post, so maybe two review post next week, it depends.

In the meantime if you haven’t  voted in the poll yet, you can. It looks like French Parody one is winning.

What should be the next version?

  • Quasimodo d'el Paris (53%, 9 Votes)
  • The Dingo Version (35%, 6 Votes)
  • Other (PLEASE say what it is in the comments) (12%, 2 Votes)

Total Voters: 17

I went through all my posts I made in 2015. Roughly I do about 16 post per month so I had about 192 to go through. I  narrowed the list down to 46, and then to  25 and finally  to 10.

I tried to have a broad scope of context but I really focused on which posts I enjoyed the most reading and not which ones I  enjoyed  writing.

So here are my top ten favorite/best posts of 2015 in no particular order though they are by date by a default.

I really can’t believe it’s been five years since this little blog  began.  Much like last year I want to express my thanks to everyone who reads, enjoys or just pass through here. Any interest means a lot to me.  I’m sorry I don’t have more for this post because five years deserves a little more but I have been a little burnt out of late I admit.  I do hope to continue the blog longer but I don’t know what the future holds but at least there will be TWO New Hunchback movie versions very soon, hopefully.

Sometimes it feels like ever since I started this blog there has been more Hunchback stuff around  but it’s probably because I’m just noticing it more but in my little vain heart I think it’s because of  me and this blog ^_~.

Anyway again thank you everyone for Five years. Maybe next year I can release a joke Hunchback E-book I have been wanting to write.

Do to some personal reasons, there will be no anti-hyptheical casting post today. I had asked for suggestions on Facebook so that is why I’m mentioning but I can’t get it out for today. I’m sorry, it will be out next week and maybe I will do two casting posts in August since people like seem to enjoy them.

Anyway Enjoy this video that is a Notre Dame de Paris blast from the past,

Again, next week will be an anti-hypothecial casting post on Jim Carrey as Clopin.

I’m happy and excited to announce  June is going to be a theme month for the blog and it’s going to be WEDDINGS. I actually like wedding in theory because I like the idea of prettiness and romance but I sort don’t love going to them but that isn’t the point. June is one of the most popular times to get married and since there were three kinda weddings in Hunchback there is a precedent for the theme and I have been wanting to do another theme month.

So here are the scheduling for the month since I’m going to postpone the regular posts but going to keep the some general ideas for the days.

Mondays – the weddings in the novel
Tuesdays – how the movies handled the weddings
Wednesday – Fun Hunchback wedding stuff, I hope
Thursday – Bad Wedding movies, it’s not too far removed from live-action fairy tales ^_~.

So that is the theme and the plan, should be fun.

This blog started four years ago today. Two years ago I wrote a retrospective and last year released a Christmas e-book, this year I have nothing except to say thank you to all of you who read and enjoy this blog.

I had sort had intended to write my thoughts on where the blog is now and the future of it but I will hold off on that for now. Whatever happens in the future though I’m very grateful for the readership.

Help The Hunchblog go see the Musical

So in honor of the blog’s 100oth, I have a few little announcements to make.

Announcement #1,

Since I don’t live super very away from New Jersey, I would like to try and go to the Hunchback Musical at the Papermills Playhouse in New Jersey. However since I’m primarily a blogger by trade I don’t have the funds to go on my own so I’m trying to crowd fund it.

If you would like to be a wonderful person and help me and the blog out to go to this musical, here is the link to donate, http://www.gofundme.com/h0h4z4     .

Anything you can give towards this is very much appreciated.

Announcement #2,

November is Nation Novel Writing Month (http://nanowrimo.org) and I’m trying participating. I’m writing a novel based on what I know which is me and blogging and ripping part Disney movies. Basically I’m parodying myself, the blog and online reviewing and I’m having such fun doing it.

I’m hoping publish it at some point. Also speaking of Hunchblog related book I’m planning on writing one using blog posts from the 1939 version and greatly expanding on it in a much more in-depth way.

Announcement #3,

This isn’t quite a formal announcement but I’m considering signing up for Patreon for the blog which offer special content to patrons but I’m a little apprehend about it.   It takes a lot for to sign up for things like that. Gofundme took some effort to go for. I

Thank you guys so much for your support and interested in the blog, I really appreciate it. And I hope for another 1000 posts and thehunchblog’s birthday is in another month so that is exciting.
