Best Love Songs from ABC Galavant, Maybe you're Not Worst Thing Ever Madalena (Mallory Jansen,) Richard (Timothy Omundson,) Galavant (Joshua Sasse,) Isabella (Karen David) Best Love Songs from ABC Galavant
“Maybe You’re Not Worst Thing Ever”

Since it’s Valentine’s Day I thought let’s celebrate by ranking the love songs from one of my favorite shows ever: “Galavant.” Fun-Fact, I posted one these songs three years ago for Valentine’s Day, so we’re replaying the classics

If you haven’t seen Galavant yet just watch the first two seasons and if you don’t like you don’t have to watch anymore. Just give it two seasons

Galavant was a musical fantasy comedy show. The songs were written by Alan Menken.  There are roughly 3 songs per episode and some of them fall into the realm of a love songs. So we are only looking at the romantic songs from show but there are still many more awesome songs in the shows. Really all the songs are pretty great. They strike the perfect blend between comedy and heartfelt earnestness.

Just go watch it….if you can.. if you can’t just watch the songs on YouTube or something

Spoilers for the whole show

I’m ranking these songs based on how Romantic they are as well as my own subjective opinion.

I dislike none of these songs.

The world needs more Galavant content and I’m here to answer the call.

9. “As Much As Someone Like me Can Love Anyone”

Madalena (Mallory Jansen,) and Galavant (Joshua Sasse) sings "As much as someone like me can love anyone " Best Love Songs from ABC Galavant
“As Much As Someone Like Me Can Love Anyone “

There a lot of going on with this song that basically boils down to Galavant and Madalena have very different feeling about love and what it entails. Galavant is a romantic hero who wants to win back his love and Madalena just wants a boy-toy and isn’t capable of any real feelings. She does love him in a way just not in way that is very romantic.

Not really like super romantic vibe still a great song though.

8. “Serenade”

Galavant (Joshua) Serenades Roberta (Clare Foster) and Richard (Timothy Omundson) in a Kiss the Kiss style parody, "Serenade" Best Love Songs from ABC Galavant
“Serenade”

A “Kiss the Girl” style parody in which Galavant to create “The Mood.” However he doesn’t have much to work with via his pal Richard. Galavant match-making doesn’t exactly fail but it doesn’t go right either. Galavant might not be the best wingman but his voice is very soothing and works well for this sort of song plus it’s humorous but most of the songs are in Galavant that’s why it’s great.

7. “Finally”

Best Love Songs from ABC Galavant "Finally," a love song between Richard (Timothy Omundson) and Roberta (Clare Foster)
“Finally”

I hate Grease and I hate zombies and yet I do not hate this song. Roberta and Richard are cute and the zombie chorus makes this song so much more silly.  Wish there had been more duets for these two but at least we got one cute one for this couple.

6. “A Real Life Happily Ever After”

Galavant (Joshua Sasse) and Isabella (Karen David) find their happy ending "A Real Life Happily Ever After," Best Love Songs from ABC Galavant
“A Real Life Happily Ever After”

One of the last songs in the series as it marks the conclusion of Galavant and Isabella’s love story. It’s sweet song and the line “As epic endings go, it’s rather small” is such a great line. It’s not big song but it’s makes for a lovely ending for these two characters.

5. “World Best Kiss”

Galavant (Joshua Sasse) and Isabella (Karen David) sing "The World's Best Kiss" Best Love Songs from ABC Galavant
“World’s Best Kiss”

For most of season two Galavant and Isabella are apart. However at the end of season one they shared a kiss. A kiss so memorable that they sing a whole song about it. However this Galavant, romantic isn’t pretty, it’s weird, and this song is about how awkward and not good it was. Though the two try hype it up as romantic before their denial falls away to the reality. Though despite the awful kiss they still yearn for each other so that does help they romance factor.

Favorite line is “ Distance and Time have not erased it.” I just like the line, it’s pretty.

The reprise is after a mis-communication between the two, Isabella is heart-broken, classic romantic cliche but it works here.

4. “Love is Strange”

Galavant (Joshua Sasse) and Isabella (Karen David) sing "Love is Strange" Best Love Songs from ABC Galavant
“Love is Strange”

While Isabella and Galavant get their “A Real Life Happily Ever After” their romance isn’t super fairy tale-like. This is evidence by their duet “Love is Strange,” in which the two sing about each other faults but that they still are caught up in love for each other. It’s a real-like take on love with beautiful orchestration.

3. “Maybe You’re Not the Worst Thing Ever”

Galavant (Joshua Sasse) and Isabella (Karen David) sing "Maybe You’re Not the worst thing ever" Best Love Songs from ABC's Galavant
“Maybe You’re Not the worst thing ever”

Defiantly one of my favorite songs from the entire series. “Maybe You’re Not the Worst Thing Ever” is two duets between Madalena and Richard and also Galavant and Isabella.

It has the musicality of sweeping romance but each couple is very scathing to each. However they all could be worse as they not the worse. Also the way the character are acting adds to contrast of the music and the lyrics.

It’s brilliant and sort of romantic. It does hint as the Galavant and Isabella pairing as their relationship is getting stronger whearas how bad Madalena and Richard has gotten.

Best wedding song ever!

2. “If I Could Share My Life With You”

If I Could Share my life with you from Galavant is performed by Gwynne (Sophie McShera) and the Chef (Darren Evans) Best Love Songs from ABC Galavant
“If I Could Share My Life With You”

A song about how a miserable existents is made slightly less miserable when you share it with some you love. It also helps that the chef and Gwynne are great side characters.

1. “Love Makes the World Brand New”

Gareth (Vinnie Jones) learns about the wonders on love in the song "Love makes the Brand New" Best Love Songs from ABC Galavant
“Love Makes the World Brand New”

Gareth is a real man’s man type. So it’s hilarious when he falls in love and has a Disney Princess like song to express his feelings of love. Except he doesn’t have the lexicon to sing this type of song so he just does his best to a delightful comic effect. Gareth is a Poet!

Honorable Mention: ” Let’s Agree to Disagree

Madalena (Mallory Jansen,) and Gareth (Vinnie Jones) sing "Let's Agree to Disagree" Best Love Songs from ABC Galavant
“Let’s Agree to Disagree”

While I do love this song and its’ roots are in a comedy-romantic song, Gareth and Madalena are more like co-workers at this point.
