About

Newly Minted as “The Hunch”

Originally called “The Hunchblog of Notre Dame,” this blog intent was reviewing and analyzing the many different  adaptations of Victor’s Hugo novel Notre Dame de Paris aka The Hunchback of Notre Dame. These retellings range from movies, cartoons, musicals, ballets, and operas. Some are considered masterpieces and some are not. Some are vastly popular and beloved and even more are unknown.

However much like the initial inspiration over the years this blog’s focus has shifted away from solely reviewing Hunchback versions.  It now has expanded to discussing Books, Movies, Tv Series, Musicals, etc. However it will however comeback to basics and will continue to be populated but Hunchback of Notre Dame related topics as it’s my wheelhouse.

To be honest this blog started shifted a long time ago. So it’s time to just lean into be “The Hunch” because the URL is fixed.

What does this mean going forward?

Not too much really. I’m still going to have post content focused Hunchback content as well as reviews as well on other pieces of media such Disney properties, TV series, movie and musicals, books, costumes etc. It just won’t be as fixed into the iconography of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ more flexible and room to grow and expand.

Little more on About me myself and I

I still consider myself a somewhat obsessed fan of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. It actually started when I very randomly saw Notre Dame de Paris on Sunday afternoon in April many years ago. I saw a video of Belle, proceeded to watch the rest and that was it. From there I read the book and then burned through any adaptation I got could get my hands on.  I did the same thing with Phantom of the Opera prior.

I also have a love story-telling and analyzing how media adapt stories.  I also adore Costuming, Anime, Period Pieces, Fantasy, and Comedies.

    Hello!

I discovered this website by pure chance, and I really like it! We are currently thinking of staging a production of The hunchback of Notre Dame in our school theatre. Our problems is that we can’t really have a goat on stage. You seem to know a lot of different productions , did you maybe come across one where they had a clever solution for this? We have already thought about a pet one or disguising a person as a goat, but there is the risk that it might just become too ridiculous.Using only a shadow of a goat would be one possibility!

If you come up with any clever ideas, please let me know. thank you very much in advance!

Aww Thank you ^^, I glad you like it .

mmmm, I’ll have to think though my initial idea would be to get a goat marionette and have an actor dresses all in black to operated it. A marionette is what they Disney stage show used when they performed it at the Parks.

If I think of any other ideas I’ll let you know.
