Bridgerton is a massively popular Netflix show based/inspired by the romance series of the same name by Juila Quinn. Season one released Christmas Day 2020 and Season two came out March 2022. The series is known for its spicy romances, large diverse cast of complex characters and a modern take on Regency costumes.

Francesca, Reserved & Refined
Francesca Bridgerton the third daughter and sixth child of the prolific yet tight-knit Bridgerton family. Unlike of other members of her family, Francesca is barley seen in the first two season, only appearing five episodes, this is because her season 1 & 2 actress was on another show and it was schedule conflict. The show covers for this by having her go to their aunt’s house in Bath to practice pianoforte.
Despite appearing in a handful of episodes Francesca does have some personality traits. She does enjoy being with her family though she seldom says much. This is in line with her introversion. She does teases her family and engage in conversation with her siblings. She plays the pianoforte as well as needle work. She is reserved and self-assured, which is more like her book counterpart.
Francesca’s Sense of Fashion
Because she appear so rarely in the first two seasons, Francesca only has 8 costumes. A few of those are altered with different accessories to appear slightly different but if you’re an obsessive eagle eye watcher, like me, you can notice the same few costumes in rotation. She does keep to Bridgerton family palette with soft pastels but she mostly wears pinks.
As Francesca is 16 in Season one and 17 in season 2 she’s not debuted therefore she doesn’t have any ball gowns and her costumes are “youthful,” like Eloise’s season one costumes, with bows, frills and chemisettes. She debuts season three with a new actress and that is separate list since she has a larger role in season 3.
Thisorgianlly ranked all 8 of Francesca’s costumes from season one and two but now it’s her best 5 costumes. Her costumes were ranked many on aesthetics, how they reflect Francesca and memorability.

5. The Presentation Dress from Season 2
Season two starts with Eloise being presented to Queen Charlotte. Francesca, like her siblings, is dressed to the nine in whites.
Her white dress has a sheer white overlay studded with pearls and white flowers that also make up her waist trim. These white flowers are also used as stud earrings which showcase her youth and that she cares more about fashion. She wears it with a white chemisette with a bow and a white rose brooch. She finished the look with white shoes and gloves and white flowers in her hair.
4. The Pink Finale Outfit
As season one closes the Bridgerton bid farewell to Colin as he leaves for Greece. The entire family sees him off including Francesca who has return from Bath.
In this scene she wears a dotted striped pink fabric outfit and it’s a rather different look. It’s not an empire waist but a natural waistline. It’s also made up separates with a button-up top and a matching skirt that has a darker pink ombre towards the hem. The sleeves are long with fabric covered buttons going down the arm. Her top has collar with a multi-color bow that matches her hair accessory.

3. The Pink Dress
This pink dress is Francesca’s de-facto costume. She is seen wearing it in some form of alteration four times in both seasons one and two. The dress is simple, making it easy to alter it to look different without making a new dress.
The dress it a mid-tone warm pastel rose pink and looks to be made of mid-weight silk. In season one episode one, the waist band is a darker almost reddish pink color with a pinkish ruffled chemisette with a bow. In finale of season one she wears this dress with brooch instead of bow. In Season 2 episode 2 the dress has a white waist trim with pink flowers and she wears a sheer pink chemisette with stripes and in the following episode the waist trim is again switched with a soft pink ribbon with a sheer white ruffled chemisette that looks like her original one from season one.
While it’s a simple costume it proves valuable to the production to make quick changes to make it look different. The color is lovely and very Bridgerton while still being different enough yet complimentary Daphne’s blues and Eloise’s greens and purples.
2. The Frilly Pink Dress
After Daphne’s first ball she awaits callers with her family in the drawing room, however her eldest brother Anthony is making it difficult scaring away her suitors . In this scene, Francesca sits with her needle work in a lovely frilly light almost white pink dress. The trim is a combination of pink and white riffles and it’s complimented by a high-necked tightly ruffled chemisette. It appears to have a sheer overlay as well.
Francesca wears it again in episode one of season two as she plays the pianoforte as Eloise has dancing lesson. This time the dress has white waist trim with floral pattern and different trim at the hem of the puffed sleeves but maintains the ruffle a combination of pink and white riffles and it’s complimented by a high-necked tightly ruffled trim.
While this costume is seen only briefly it’s very pretty and has an odd combination of being laid-back, casual, refined and youthful.
1. The White Lace Dress
As Daphne bemoans Anthony’s domineer nature, Francesca lounges next to her mother on a settee wearing a white lace dress with puffed sleeves. This costume is another example of pinned-up bodice or drop front gown in Bridgerton. Whether it simulated or is actually pined-up at the sides of the bodice it was a something common in the Regency period.
The waist trim is white with a scalloped purple border with purple flower pattern.
She has a sheer white ruffled chemisette with a floral brooch and her hair accessory matches the waist trim.
It’s a lovely refined dress that while is a different color scheme for Francesca it still suits her well while painting her youthful sense of elegance.
