By now it’s clear that “Kpop Demon Hunters” has had a massive cultural impact. With its characters, animation style and of course the songs. The Songs are by and far the most popular part of this movie with “Golden” being the song of Summer 2025 and continuing to be popular and beloved.
While all the songs in the movie are great which is one statically the best? I’ve done a few of these ranked surveys where I search across the internet to find individual rankings and average them together to get a ranked order list. This survey do not reflect my own options they are objective. My own personal ranking of the songs were NOT included and actually different from the final order.
This Kpop Demon Hunters survey was easier than some my other statically rankings as there is a fixed number of songs and finding 100 different ranking (mostly from youtube videos and comments as well as reddit ) was very easy.
The individual rankings were actually very different from each other and only one was nearly identical just with one reversal from the final list.
And none of the songs are outright bad or weak it’s really just comes down to personal preference.
So what do you think? Which songs placed in 7th and which song took number one???
Spoilers though you probably seen this movie multiple times.
7. “Soda Pop”
Average Score – 5.27
Coming in as the lowest ranked song in the movie is “Soda Pop,” an annoying infectious song and yet captivating. “Soda Pop” is delightfully vapid and was so by design however it just stood as shade weaker than the others. It is fun though.
Overall “Soda Pop” ranked last 31 times and ranked first only once.
6. “Free”
Average Score – 4.87
Oddly “Free” is one the few songs in Kpop Demon Hunters that is more of a musical song as Rumi and Jinu sing as expression of emotion rather than singing as a performance for a crowd. I think the reason this song ranks so low because it’s more subdue and slow which compared the other songs makes it seem boring.
Personally I love this song.
Overall “Free” ranked sixth 26 times, ranked first nine times, and ranked last twenty-six times.
5. “Takedown”
Average Score – 4.72
“Takedown” is an interesting song as it’s presented in the movie as part non-diegetic and diegetic. It’s also a massive plot point in the movie. It’s a diss track which which some people love and for other’s it’s a harder sell. This song does get a boost for being the credit songs which does help stand out a bit more.
Overall “Takedown” ranked fifth 22 times, ranked first threes times, and ranked last twenty-two times.
4. “This is What it Sounds Like”
Average Score 3.73
Much like “Free,” “This is What it Sounds Like” is a more musical song. It serve as the climax of the movie where Rumi embraces her faults and all her imperfections as well as it’s the final confrontation against Gwi-Ma. It also showcases the Hunters power of song a both a combative force and connecting the people for the strength of the hon-mon.
“This is What it Sounds Like’s” placement could just come done to the strength of the remaining three songs.
Overall “This is What it Sounds Like” ranked fourth 11 times, ranked first twenty-one times, and ranked last seven times.
3. “How it’s Done”
Average Score – 3.62
“How it’s Done” is the opening song as it’s sets the tone and introduces the leading ladies. It does a lot of things well, it show off the how cool and powerful Hunterix are as well as how silly they can be all while fighting to an uptempo song with awesome lyrics. It’s defiantly communicates a different type of musical which is just so right for this movie.
Overall ranked third 15 times, ranked first15 times and ranked last 7 times
2. “Golden”
Average Score -2.96
“Golden,” the song of the summer 2025 and the song that was meant to turn the Hon-mon gold, thus sealing the demons away forever. By all metrics “Golden” is a masterclass of a song that works on its own as a pop song and as part of a musical. It’s also just so a bright upbeat positive song that while no easy to sing you just can’t help singing along to.
It deserves all its success and accolades and yet one song beat it out in the rankings which is surprising and then again mot surprising considering which song it is that places number one.
Overall ”Golden ” ranked second 27 times, ranked first 18 times and ranked last 3 times.
1. “Your Idol”
Average Score – 2.83
It’s the sexy gothic demon boy band villain song “Your Idol ” that ranked number #1 over “Golden.” “Your Idol” just has all the right elements that make for a great memorable and engaging song that commands attention.
Perhaps it ranks over “Golden” because “Golden” is broken up in the narrative whereas “Your Idol” is uninterrupted. Or maybe more simply is that people just resonate more with songs that have a dark gothic tone.
Also the latin sounding part in the movie is actually the Hunters’ mantra played in reverse which is ingenious. It sounding like latin prompted the whole gothic tone of the song. A Gothic sounding villain songs with ominous latin chants is know recipe for success.
“Your Idol” is great song and an ideal villain song. It clearly stole the hearts and minds of the masses just like the Saja Boys wanted.
Overall “Your Idol” ranked first 34 times and ranked last 4 times.
