After slew of Pixar movies that I had already seen we are back to one that was new to me – Cars 2. This movie wasn’t a total mystery to me has I heard a little bit about it before watching. Mainly that it was “bad” and that it was a spy movie centering around Mater. Of course that premise sounds insane but maybe, just maybe Cars 2 isn’t as “bad” as the internet thinks?

Toy Story 3 is yet another Pixar title that I did watch before. I saw it exactly once and I don’t think I had much in the way of strong feelings toward it aside from the incinerator scene and the ending.
For many people, they consider Toy Story 3 the peak of the Toy Story movie franchise as well as Pixar in general. And maybe they are right and for them it is but I can only speak to my opinion of the movie

Up is another Pixar movie that I had actually seen prior. However I only watched once before a while ago and I don’t really recall liking it then. I think my initial thought was it was too much premise and not enough plot. I will say that was bad take to walk away with even at the time. However did my opinion of this movie changed on a second watch?

Technically I have seen Wall-E prior to this blog review series. However the first time I watched Wall-E on small TV and I was half paying attention. The next two times it was put on in the background so again I didn’t really pay much attention. I think when the movie started I tried to watch it in earnest and then something distracted me away from the cute robot.
So really the fourth time was really the first time I actually payed attention to this movie. And is Wall-E actually worth mine or anyone’s attention?

To be honest going into this movie I really wanted to like it despite the fact that it scared Jason Mendoza of The Good Place. Typically with movies I also want to like them. I’m not sure if I had heard mix things this about this movie over the years but I was both scared and excited to watch Ratatouille.
I did know something about this movie going into it like most of the plot and that the rat cooks using a human puppet. Again I knew premise of the movie in broad-strokes by not the intricacies of the story or of the characters.
So did the movie meet my exceptions or did it serve only to waste my time?

Coming right after watching The Incredibles I figured Cars was going to another hard sell for me personally. I don’t love cars, or racing* or the Americana aesthetic that much.
I really only tangentially knew the premise and really had no idea how a the red car mingled with the rusty pick-up truck or how racing actually factored into the plot.
Only recently did I learn that this movie was centered around Route 66. I’m not sure I if ever watched a trailer and if I did and just forgot. I’m not even certain I have seen a clip of Cars even in passing. Anything I knew about this movie was tangental from other sources. I knew nothing, which tracks.
Basically I had no working knowledge of Cars but from the looks of it, it just did not seem like it would appeal to me and my taste at all.
And yet I still watched it and I TRIED very hard to keep an open mind.

Honestly I think The Incredibles was always going to be a hard sell for me, as full-disclosure, I’m not that into to superheroes movies. It’s just not for me. That being said I went into The Incredibles with an open-mind as it wasn’t standard super hero fare

Well, Well, Well at last we have come to one of the rare Pixar movies have seen prior and even rarer still I believe this is the only one I saw in theaters. Which is crazy if I actually thought about it or I’m just forgetting about seeing another Pixar movie in theaters but I don’t think so. I think to date it’s only been Finding Nemo.
So did it hold up for me?

Again we have a Pixar offering that I haven’t seen before. Unlike A Bug’s Life I did have been working knowledge of Toy Story 2’s plot as I’ve seen clips and I was familiar with Jesse’s backstory. I just didn’t know how the plot unfolded.
It’s a little odd to think about that Pixar’s third move being a sequel. So often they get criticized for doing sequels when their third movie was a sequel. They did sequels right out of the gate. But at least it was an example of a good sequel.
