“Maybe You’re Not Worst Thing Ever”

Since it’s Valentine’s Day I thought let’s celebrate by ranking the love songs from one of my favorite shows ever: “Galavant.” Fun-Fact, I posted one these songs three years ago for Valentine’s Day, so we’re replaying the classics

If you haven’t seen Galavant yet just watch the first two seasons and if you don’t like you don’t have to watch anymore. Just give it two seasons

Galavant was a musical fantasy comedy show. The songs were written by Alan Menken.  There are roughly 3 songs per episode and some of them fall into the realm of a love songs. So we are only looking at the romantic songs from show but there are still many more awesome songs in the shows. Really all the songs are pretty great. They strike the perfect blend between comedy and heartfelt earnestness.  

Just go watch it….if you can.. if you can’t just watch the songs on YouTube or something

I’m ranking these songs based on how Romantic they are as well as my own subjective opinion.

The foil to the refined Bridgertons are their London neighbors the Featheringtons. The Featheringtons are showy and garnish. They have “new money” vibe. They revel in bright colors with extreme amounts of embellishments and details like feathers.

The youngest of the Featheringtons is Penelope. In season two she’s in her second year on the marriage mart, secretly in love with Colin Bridgerton and is best friends with Eloise Bridgerton. However now that Eloise is out in society, she poises a difficulties to Penelope’s Lady Whistledown operation especially since Eloise is obsessed with unmasking the gossip-writer.

Feathington Family Fashions

All the families of Bridgerton have their unique sense of styles. The Bridgertons opts for pale pastel tones especially blues, the Sharmas, a new addition in season two, wear jewel tones while the Featherintons wears bright shocks of citrus colors.

Eloise Bridgerton: The Season’s Emerald

Season two starts with Eloise’s presentation to Queen Charlotte. This which means she’s out in society and hates every second of the ordeal. Eloise prefers reading and conversing in topic she finds engaging; topics she finds worthwhile. This prompts her to resume her quest for Whistledown to get the writer to write more than just gossip. This leads her to form an attachment with a printer and radical ideas.

In March 2022, the second season of Bridgerton dropped on Netflix amidst a lot of hype. As season one was a massive hit, it came as no surprise that the second season was met with equal enthusiasm.

Season two is eight episodes from producer Shonda Rhimes and creator/showrunner Chris Van Susen, mostly following the plot of the second book in Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series, The Viscount Who Loved Me. However, many more sub-plots were added to the show as well as center love story to have much more drama, angst and longing.

A New Costume Designer

By the time the second season was released, we all knew what to expect from the costume design. It’s a modern take on Recency aesthetics: fun, bright, and very colorful. The show never intended to be historically accurate; it’s depicting a fictionalized version of the Regency period (Britain from 1811 to 1820) and thus, it’s more fantastical, with its own unique, audacious style.

Sophie Canale, who was an assistant costume designer during the first season, took the helm as the lead of the costumes department for the second. For Canale, the foundation of costume design was already in place, meaning she could drive deeper into making the costumes express each character’s individuality.

This season we are introduced to the Sharma family. Much like the Bridergtons and the Featheringtons, the Sharmas have their own familial style and color palette that makes them unique in Mayfair.

Despite the show being called Bridgerton, it starts with the Featheringtons. The Featheringtons are the neighbors of the Bridgertons and have a major presence throughout the show, especially since one them has a secret identity as the show’s gossipy writer/narrator, Lady Whistledown.

The gossip monger and impressive lady of business is really the unassuming youngest child of the Featheringtons Penelope, who might come off like “an insipid wallflower,” but she’s actually astute, observant, well-read, and witty. She is also hopeless in love with Colin Bridgerton and best friends with Eloise Bridgerton at the start of season one.

The Stats Don’t Lie

This list ranks the 10 Best Disney Villain Songs. It was not based on my own opinions. Instead I looked at 40 different Villain ranked lists and found the mean score for each song based on the 1-10 ranking and how often the song appeared across the 40 list. So a song that appeared more often didn’t necessarily ranked higher but being on more of the lists did help. Only one of the songs featured on all 40 lists.

I tried to get lists that were as recent as I could and the only requirement was that the song was is currently under the Disney Studio and it about or sung by a villain. This means sequels, remakes and 20th Century Fox movies are all eligible. I’ll also include some honorable mentions at the end because why not.

Ranking the Creepy & Heartwarming Songs from The Muppet Christmas Carol

There is something altogether perplexing that the Muppet version of Charles Dickson’s “The Christmas Carol” is regarded as the best film adaptation of the novel.

However if you take into account that The Muppets excel at blending heart-felt moments with artistry, innovation, and silliness then it’s not surprising. There also a clear reverence for the source material that is clear in making Gonzo the narrator that is refreshing as well as Michale Caine’s depiction of the crotchety, old miser turned upbeat generous gent bout town and his inspired acting choice of playing it completely dramatic against The Muppets.     

All the pieces of this adaption work well, even the pretty darn historical accurate costumes.

But this post is a ranking of the songs from The Muppet Christmas Carol. The songs on the whole are very good and there is no single song that stands out as weak or bad. They are all really good. 

But which song is the best?

That is subjective opinion.  This ranking is my own opinion  and your own may very well differ.

Four of the Main Couples of Bridgerton Seasons 1 through 4

Written by Julia Quinn, The Bridergeton Book series spans eight books set in Regency England (1813-1827.) Each book tells the love story of a different Bridgerton sibling and each feature some sort of romantic trope, like fake-dating, enemies to lover to name a few.

The book series got a surge in popularity after being adapted into a Netflix show in 2020. It’s currently in their fourth season, adapting the third book with two addition seasons currently in preproduction. The show adaptations of the books are quite different and has a more ensemble cast with many sub-plots and added characters.

But the real question is which one of the book in the series is considered “The Best?” Which is the worse? And which ones are in the top four and which ones are in the bottom four?
