Patrick Page, Hypothetical fan-casting for the voice of an Animated Villain like Disney
Patrick Page

Typically when I write these hypothetical fan-casting posts I usually elect an actor for a role or for a version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. However I thought of changing that up a bit. For this post I’m going to pick a performer who has already been in a Hunchback version and suggest another acting idea/role for them.

In this post’s case it’s Patrick Page to lend his voice to a Disney animated villain!

Disney Needs Classic Villains Again

We all love the classic Disney villains however Disney doesn’t like to do the traditional campy delightful villains or the darker one these days.

It seems that Disney these days like to do either a “nuance” villainous characters or a twist villain despite people wanting the “bad guy” mustache twirlers type back in play.

It’s also odd because Disney markets their “fun” and “popular” villains almost as much their princesses. The Villains are even getting a new land at Disney World. So why not give us a new fun dark villain! And why not have Patrick Page lead his voice to the endeavor.

A Villain’s Villain Type

Just so we’re all on the same page, Patrick Page has played many a villainous character including orginalting the role Frollo for the Disney theatrical version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

He’s also known for his role as Hades in Hadestown and The Green Goblin in Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark to name a few. As he a celebrated Broadway performer it’s very clear that he can sing so there is no reason to think he couldn’t deliver a delightful villain song, pending on the lyrics and score. Also he has an added benefits that he plays a version of Frollo.

Also Not Just a Stage Villain

Page is very good a playing villain off the stage too as does TV roles too. Most notably In The Gilded Age, I love that show. His deep baritone voice is perfect for a villain. It would be a wasted opportunity for him not to play an iconic Disney in new animated movie.  It’s too perfect a casting concept. You know what doesn’t HAVE to be Disney just a villain who is dark and sings.

Page for a Villain

While this more of theoretical casting as we don’t have a character in question, it’s still a good idea, Patrick Page voicing a villain in an animated movie, Disney or otherwise. Just so long as it’s a fun dark villain befitting of Patrick Page’s deep voice.
