Bridgerton: The Smash Hit
On December 25, 2020, Bridgerton Season One dropped on Netflix. Based on a series of books by Julia Quinn, the show features an ensemble cast. Season one follows the first book, The Duke and I which covers Daphne, the eldest daughter and her romance with Simon, a Duke.
Bridgerton has since became a massive success soon with a strong fan-base. The show prompted a new aesthetic known as “Regency-core.” Thanks in part to the costumes and sets.

Who is Eloise Bridgerton?
Eloise Bridgerton is the fifth child and the second daughter of the prolific Bridgerton family. In season one, Eloise is a year away from being a debutante. She is the perfect foil for her older sister Daphne, a newly minted debutante. Daphne has enthusiasm for society and prospect of marriage while Eloise admonishes the whole practice and doesn’t want to be married at all.
Eloise instead would rather read and loves to converse about topics that hold her interest. She because fascinated with Lady Whistledown and imagines the sort of woman she is, a woman who is free and of means. It’s a wish to emulate the author that promotes Eloise to try and find out the identity of the author.
The Bridgerton Family Fashions
This is a list of the seven best costumes worn by Eloise Bridgerton throughout Season One. Unlike Daphne, Eloise is not into fashion as much and as she not “out in society” she has less costumes overall. She has a little over twenty costumes throughout season one.
Eloise’s Sense of “Style”
The Bridgerton family’s refinement is conveyed in their styling. Their color is blue, but they will wear other soft pastel colors. Eloise wears a variety of colors from purples, pinks, blues and greens however they are all soft and muted pastel tones.
While Claudia Jessie is youthful in appearance there was a concerted effort to make her look closer to a seventeen year old. This was done with lots of fully and ruffled garments that make her look softer and there for more youthful as well as her hair style.
While she doesn’t have the same excess of costumes of other ladies she has a lot of accessories which make her costume repeats less obvious. Most notable are her chemisettes, her often sheer ruffled under-layer which are swapped to add a different vibe to any one of her a costumes. She also wears few brooches and ribbon hair accessories.
How I Ranked Her Top 7 Costumes
The costumes were ranked on aesthetics, memorability and how it reflected Eloise. Often Eloise has ruffled chemisettes with dresses that have less amounts of detailing. She has two evening gowns in season one but mostly she wears daywear. My rankings could change over time!

7. Purple Pin-Striped Dress
This purple dress a very quintessential dress for Eloise. She wears it a times throughout season one. It’s a thin doted stipe muted purple gown. She often pairs it with an ombre purple dyed striped ruffled chemisette which is the high neckline under-layer. The dress has short puffed sleeves and has an ever so slightly dark thin textured ribbon trimming the waistline.
In episode seven she wears this dress with a silver lizard brooch and I want it.
6. Yellow Flower Concert Gown
In her own quest to reveal Lady Whistledown’s identity, Eloise also tasked by the Queen to unmask the author. To present her latest working theory to the Queen, Eloise goes to a society event, a concert.
This the first time in the series that Eloise dons a “grown-up” looking gown. While she is not fully comfortable in the outfit she looks lovely though still little juvenile.
The gown is silver with a gold lace overlay that is further detailed with small yellow flowers with rhinestones at the centers of each one.
She is wears a long silver shawl is studded with rhinestones, white opera gloves with a crystal necklace with earrings with matching tiara. She also wears yellow flower in her hair.
And not a dreaded feather in sight. Eloise does not care for feathers.
5. Leaf Walking Dress
In one her most iconic scene Eloise learns from Penelope that a woman can “be with child” without being married. This terrifies Eloise to the point where she loudly asks where baby comes from in front her family.
In these scenes Eloise wears cool toned pinkish dress with a matching spencer, short jacket. The fabric has tonal leave pattern. Her dress has shirt puffed sleeves with a flat braided trim at the waistline.
Her ruffled chemisette is a blue-green color and is worn with a cameo pin. She wears a three strand sheer ribbon with flowers at the side in her hair.
Her matching spencer is double-breasted with floral embroidery on the lapel.
4. Two in One Green look
Green is one of Eloise’s most flattering colors. Her long sleeved pale muted green dress is a two in one look as I believe she wears it over the green dress she wears in episode one when she trying to protect Daphne from Berbrooke. It was a great showcase of Eloise’s sisterly affection.
The underdress has short sleeves with a corded trim as the waist. She wears it with a pink frilly chemisette with white lace tied in a bow. This is the look for episode one.
The over-dress which is worn throughout episode four has a wide lapel, pleated draping and a charming floral embroidered ribbon at the waist and wrists. There two bows a larger at the back and smaller one at the front. She wears it in episode four a white lace frilly chemisette.
Both styling has her signature ribbon hair accessories. Her episode four hair accessory include a pair bee brooches amongst the ribbons.
3. Sheer White with Purple Flowers
This sheer white dress is one of Eloise’s most overtly feminine looks that is still more alined to her sense of fashion in season one. She wears in the scene when Colin blindsides with family when he announces his engagement to Marina.
The dress is a white sheer overlay with slight more opaque vertical stripes. Larger purple flowers are sewn as the waist with smaller one goes down the skirt. The sleeves are layered with the outer layer puffed and the under layer is long.
She wears a matching ruffled chemisette, sheer white flounced gloves and a purple satin ribbon hair bands.
2. Frilly Presentation Dress
Bridgerton typically opens its seasons with the start of London season which means the presentation of the debutante of ton to Queen Charlotte. In season one it’s Daphne who is presented but the the whole family attends the event. While Eloise’s youngest sister claims she feels like a princess, Eloise is not a fan of her outfit.
This costume is very frilly, overly feminine and all most cute, all which do not reflect Eloise’s personality. The dress has sheer overlay with embroidered dots and flowers.
Ruffled peach-colored ribbons run down the skirt, neckline and the sleeves with matching flowers sewn on. Wider matching satin ribbon make-up the waist sash and the bow at the collar. The triangular lace trim the sleeves and are tiered at the hem.
She wears a lace collar with a tiered ruffled neckline, flower hair accessory and sheer white gloves.
As this Eloise’s introduction it a very memorable outfit and while Eloise dislikes it an Claudia Jessie said in an interview for the season three that his her favorite costume so far.
1. The Hasting’s Ball Gown
Season one culminates in the Hasting’s Ball. As Daphne is the host, Eloise attends wearing her most grown-up looking gown yet. She wears this gown when she saves Lady Whistledown from the Queen’s trap.
Her ball gown silver with purple and green flowers and ferns embroidered overlay with lots of rhinestones. The waist band is a wide silver satin ribbon with a scalloped edge.
She wears crystal earrings, necklace, and a tiara that is secured with a mauve velvet with pearl and crystal brooches on either side of her head.
She also wears this gown with shawl she wore with her concert gown. She wears a dress that uses the same fabric in episode six so in the narrative it the same dress just being worked on but in the show they are two different dresses.
