Eloise’s 10 Best Looks of Season 2
Eloise– Claudia Jessie
Costume Designer – Sophie Canale
After the success of season one in late 2020, “Bridgerton” Season Two dropped on Netflix in March 2022. Season two maintains the ensemble cast focusing on the love story of the eldest son.
Eloise Bridgerton: The Season’s Emerald
Season two starts with Eloise’s presentation to Queen Charlotte. This which means she’s out in society and hates every second of the ordeal. Eloise prefers reading and conversing in topic she finds engaging; topics she finds worthwhile. This prompts her to resume her quest for Whistledown to get the writer to write more than just gossip. This leads her to form an attachment with a printer and radical ideas.

Eloise’s Society Glow-up
Eloise maintains aspects her season one styling. She keeps to her Bridgerton colors – wearing mostly, greens, blues, purples, and pinks. She still wears chemisettes, the sheer underlayer seen at the neck and sleeves but gone are the ribbon hair accessories. Sophie Canale, the costume designer, wanted to upgrade Eloise’s wardrobe by giving a hint of masculinity with waistcoat/dress combos for her daywear. Also since she’s out in society she gets more ball gowns.
How I Ranked Her Top 10 Costumes
The costumes were ranked on aesthetics, memorability and how they reflect Eloise as a character. Often Eloise’s costumes don’t get as notice as the other ladies but her costumes are lovely even though three of her ballgowns look very similar.
Put a pin in that for now. My rankings could change over time!
Spoilers for season 1 & 2
10. The Debutante Gown
Much like season one, Bridgerton’s second season starts with the presentation of the debutantes to the Queen. This effectually means that the young ladies are ready to be married off. For season two it’s Eloise’s turn and she dreads it however she can’t escape her debut.
Her gown is reminiscence of her older sister, Daphne’s gown but the details are quite different. Both gowns are white with same silhouette and puffed sleeves. Eloise’s gown is decorated with more gold details than Daphne’s gown. The embroidery and crystals at the bust are more compact with a bow designed there is a gold arm at the waist line. The back, sleeves lower portion of the skirt, the edge of the train and the back of the bodice all how embroidery.
Her gold and crystal jewelry set maintains the bow motif which Eloise does wear in other outfits
While Eloise is very uncomfortable in the gown is beautiful and scene very memorable epically since because it’s all interrupted by Whistledown.
9. The Purple Checkered Dress
Eloise’s style in season two consists waistcoat & dress combination which have a subtle masculine quantity while maintaining a lady-like aesthetic.
Eloise wears this purple-pink checkered outfit at least twice in season two, most notably when she is shopping with Penelope in episode one when Eloise quotes Wollstonecraft and again in episode seven when the Queen excused her of being Whistledown.
The dress and waistcoat match, using the same pink-purple checker pattern. The waistcoat has two buttons with a wide lapel and short puffed sleeves. She wears a different chemisette each scene. In episode one it’s sheer with long sleeves with smocking at the neck and cuffs. Her episode seven is sleeveless with a ruffled collar with a thin pink cord.
Both styling of the this outfit suit Eloise’s style as an individual and as a refined Bridgerton.
8. Blue Plaid Dress
Eloise’s blue plaid dress is a sneaky repeat from season one. In season one Eloise is seen wearing this dress in episode five bemoaning the wretched fate of love and marriage after it’s revealed that Daphne will marry the duke. It seen again in season two when Eloise and Kate have a terrace chat just altered.
While it might be a different dress just with the same fabric and pattern it’s far more likely that the production altered the dress, to save time and money. The dress is a blue plaid print with gathered bodice, puffed sleeves, and the skirt is wrap around the front.
The waistline is thin blue satin ribbon and three rows of blue and white ruffle trim was added to the skirt.
Her season two version has a long sleeved chemisette that’s tied in a bow with opaque stripes with white buttons.
7. Wedding Guest Attire
A few of Eloise gowns in season two look very, very similar to each other as they use the same type of overlay and the same light green silk. They are different enough from each other that lumping them together felt disingenuous but enough the same to point out the similarities.
One such look is the gown that Eloise worn to her brother’s ruined wedding. The gown is Eloise’s signature light green color in a silk. The floral overlay is concentrated at the front and looks more like appliqués at the bodice rather than a sheer overlay like so many of the other Bridgerton gowns. The short sleeves and skirt defiantly have floral sheer overlays though though they still technically could be appliqués on the layer giving the costume designer more control over the design.
The floral design is embellished with pearl and crystal beads. Her matching necklace, earrings and hair adornment are gold with blue crystals.
6. The Featherington Ball Gown
Season two culminates in the Featherington Ball hosted but none other than the Featherington. Eloise at this point is on the outs with society after two major scandals and heartbreak. This is also scene in which Eloise finally listens to Penelope and figures out her secret which results in their massive blow-up leading into season three.
Much like her wedding dress attire she wears a silk green gown with a floral overlay. The flowers are in shades of pink, white and a touch purple and embellished with pearl and crystal beads and sequins, This gown has longer flutter sleeves.
Her jewelry set is silver with white crystals in a floral motif.
Shout to her Harmony Ball ballgown as it looks similar but slightly different.
5. The Danbury Ball Gown
Established in season one, the first ball of the London season is hosted by Lady Danbury. So the apt named Danbury Ball is officially Eloise’s first ball in society.
While she feels like a “prized calf” her gown is the picture of a Bridgerton young lady. It’s a blue gown with floral lace outer layer. Embellished with glittering crystals and beading.
Her short tulip sleeves add an ethereal softness as they are sheer and sparkling with white crystals.
Her jewelry set has a floral motif.
4. Hearts and Flowers Ball Gown
Balls in Bridgerton undoubtedly have a theme. For the Bridgertons’s The Hearts and Flower Ball the guests wears shades of pink, which even the Featherington adhere to.
As Eloise is a host she wears a lovely soft muted pink gown. The gown has a floral overlay with multiple colored flowers, most notably blue and accented by sequins. The sleeves are quite short with a scallop edges. There is a thin row off dark red beads at the waist which adds a subtle accent.
Her jewelry is made up of teardrops which add a little punch to the scene as Eloise leaves the ball early in tears after having a bad interaction with a suitor after her mother and Penelope put her up to a dance.
3. The Plaid Waistcoat Dress Combo
Eloise’s Whistledown quest becomes more even personal after Whistledown exposes Eloise for hanging out with political radicals. She learns that Whistdown enlisted the help of the modiste to publish her gossip sheets, so Eloise “dresses” Madame Delacroix down.
Her look in this scene consists of waistcoat dress combo. The sleeveless waistcoat is a pink, orange, purple and blue plaid with a wide lapel and four buttons. The dress is a solid purple. The slight textured white chemisette has with short sleeves with pleated ruffled trim at hem with a thin pink cord at the neckline.
This is one of Eloise’s more popular looks from the second season.
2. Blue Petal Waistcoat & Dress
As the Bridgertons come to term with the effects of scandal, Eloise reads at home with her family in a light blue dress with a feminine waistcoat. The waistcoat has white beaded petal-like design with white flowers with blue leaves. This design extends to the puff sleeves but not on the front facing side of the lapel. She wears a blue chemisette with a ruffled neckline and blue ribbon.
Blue color is the quintessential Bridgerton color so her wearing it signifies solidarity with her family.
This look was used in season two promos.
1. The Diamond Ball Gown
Towards the end of episode one The Queen hosts “The Diamond Ball,’ in which she names “The Season’s Diamond.” Since this ball has a diamond theme all the attendees wear glittering costumes in shade of silvers and golds.
While not a typical color for her, Eloise wears a gown gown that is silver silk with a muted sheer gold overlay creating a soft metallic look. The gown is embellished with silver sequins some are in bows which compliment her soft fluid tiara design and necklace. The sequins on skirt are larger complimenting Eloise’s bold personality.
This gown strikes a good balance of Eloise’s refinement and her unique sense of self.
While not named “The Diamond, ” Eloise gets the lesser title of “The Season’s Emerald” which comes with double prize money, kidding, couldn’t resist.
