Season four of Netflix’s hit Regency Romance dropped in two parts on January 29th and February 26th 2026. Season four follows the third book in the series “An Offer from a Gentleman” by Julia Quinn which focuses on Benedict‘s romance with Sophie, a maid. 

While Bridgerton has seasonal leads the show takes a lot of liberties with book narratives to create an ensemble piece with side-plots for many of the characters as well as setting-up leads for the future seasons.  One of these characters who gets a big a major sub-plot in season four leading up to her season is Francesca

Season four of Netflix’s hit Regency Romance dropped in two parts in early 2026. Following the third book “An Offer from a Gentleman’” by Julia Quinn, the season follows Benedict ‘slove story with Sophie, a maid. As also while Bridgerton has seasonal leads Netflix takes a lot of liberties with book narratives to create an ensemble piece. 

After being the leading lady of season three, Penelope finds herself in a position in society. She is now married and the mother of the new Lord Featherington however she is also publicly known as Lady Whistledown which means her job as a covert observant gossip monger is made harder. Also making her job harder is the Queen who views Penelope as her personal source for gossip. It’s a balancing act that Penelope hadn’t considered and doesn’t seem to relish.

After the quietness of Scotland Eloise has decided that she will no longer shun society but instead will embrace it as a spinster on the “shelf.” This plan is immediately challenged by her mother.

After a tumultuous start to their love story, Kate and Anthony marry off screen, which is sad that we the viewers were deprived of that event. Kate (née Sharma) in season three is Lady Kate (Kathani) Bridgerton, Viscountess Bridgerton. This makes her the lady of the house and one the heads of the Bridgerton family.

However Kate and Anthony are still in the honeymoon phase and like to go on prolong honeymoons together leaving others in charge. Hopefully they will get more screen time in upcoming seasons.

The third season of Netflix’s hit Regency Period show, Bridgerton, dropped on May 13, 2024. Based on Julia Quinn’s fourth book in the Bridgerton series, Romancing Minster Bridgerton, the season covers the love story between Colin and Penelope. Season three got a new show-runner, Jess Brownell, after the former show-runner, Chris Van Dusen, stepped down after season two.

Unlike previous seasons, the audience already knew these characters prior to the leading a season. So we already know who Penelope is, her home life, and her secrets.

However, there is still room for character growth and Penelope’s goal is to find a husband. She undergoes a make-over with a new wardrobe and hair styles. Gone of the citrus tones of the past and now she wears mainly blues and greens – mostly soft or muted tones.
