Can you believe this whole movie happens because the villain wanted to save money on postage???
The Emperor’s New Groove is just such a different type of Disney movie, especially coming off the heels of the Disney Renaissance. Originally a grand retelling of the Prince and Pauper instead we got a screwball buddy comedy with the Incan Empire as set dressing and no script for the Disney Archives. However this movie is just really funny and Yzma & Kronk are pure serotonin. I love every single ounce of screen time they get. The other characters are great and there is a decent amount of heart to balance out the all the silliness.
It ‘s truly a shame that Snuff out the Light was scraped along with the original concept because that song is pure fire and would have easily been right up there with the top Disney Villain songs. How do you have Eartha Kitt in a movie not even give her a melody to hum? Kronk does get his own theme song so there is that.
Shame on Disney for not making “Yzma’s Secret Lab Coaster” an actual ride. Though I’m SURE Disney would have given it a needlessly long complicated official name.
